Ride Pink This October to Join the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Every ride on a Bluebikes "Pink Bike" earns $1 for the Ellie Fund in October.

Boston streets are getting a bold new look this October. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, title sponsor of Bluebikes, is turning the Bluebikes fleet pink for the very first time — a colorful symbol of solidarity and support for patients and survivors across our community.

Keep an eye out for 100 specially wrapped pink bikes — both classic and ebikes — scattered across the Bluebikes system all month long. Every time you hop on one of these standout rides between October 1–31, you’ll be doing more than just pedaling to your next destination: Blue Cross will donate $1 to The Ellie Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting breast cancer patients in Massachusetts, for each pink bike ride — up to $10,000. Once that cap is reached, Lyft, the operator of Bluebikes, will double down with an additional $1 donation per ride, up to another $10,000.

That means every trip on a pink bike helps fuel critical services for local patients — from transportation to treatment, to grocery assistance, to childcare support.

So whether you’re commuting, cruising, or just enjoying the crisp fall air, keep your eyes peeled for a pink bike and join the movement. Together, one ride at a time, we can make an impact.
